MMM…CAKE

I finally got around to taking a picture of my slice of cake that is my corresponding plush piece to my Marie Antoinette. The cake slice is 6″ long and 4 1/2″ wide. The eight inch turquoise painted plate is included. These will be heading off to the Stuff This show at Rivet Gallery in Columbus, OH.

Before I can take a break and think about christmas I have two more plush pieces to make for the show Soft Served at OhNo! Doom in Chicago.

MARIE ANTOINETTE

I finished up Marie. It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to do the skirt. I knew it had to be big and full but I didn’t want to stuff it. So I decided to basically make a hoop skirt. Sewn into the hem of the skirt is a 12″ wooden embroidery hoop. It lays perfectly flat and the actual stand is under the skirt. I did have to make a bum roll for her waist so that the top of the skirt puffed out.

LET THEM EAT CAKE!

I started working on my new pieces for the upcoming Stuff This show. I decided to do another girl. For a while now I’ve wanted to do Marie Antoinette. Last year I bought Simplicity pattern 3637 because I’d love to make this costume someday. I was very much inspired by this when I began. I’m currently working on the skirt. I will also be making a plush slice of cake to go along with the theme that will be sold separately.
